✖ BACKGROUND:
Gliese's home planet had been obliterated by an enemy species before earth astrophysicists had discovered her home star. The CDC gave her and a small number of her species gainful employment in exchange for a planet of their own, and a chance at revenge.

✖ CHARACTER ASSESSMENT:
Gliese prioritizes function, practicality and efficiency; these characteristics often lend her the appearance of being cold or unapproachable. She has a great interest in mathematics, and doesn't appreciate being distracted or having her time wasted. Gliese is responsive to civility, but not always to niceness. She presents herself as a mature figure of authority, despite her being young relative to her species. She can be very childish, however, when presented with problems that frustrates her, or is placed in situations she does not fully understand.

✖ "R'hakhe, r'hisha, r'hamasa." — "Ours, yours, then mine;" Gliesian philosophy of putting others above oneself. Acting only for one's personal gain is considered highly offensive in Gliesian culture.

✖ The Lights — Gliesians believe that light creates life; as a herbivorous species, vegetation grown in light are considered good for consumption, while vegetation grown in darkness are considered food for the selfish. All Gliesian songs are dedicated to light and a good harvest.

✖ Clan and personal colors — Clan colors and markings are a sign of status in Gliesian culture. The noblesse are born with pale-colored raised lines around the eyes and forehead, while the working class are born with dark-colored stripes. Gliese's family is ascended, and so she wasn't born with colors. (The low-born are not born with any colors or markings.)

Her clan colors are three red stripes: one stripe under each eye, and one along the forehead. As the eldest, However, as Gliese is emancipated, she has the privilege of choosing her own colors; she has chosen one red stripe under, a black dart at the corner, and a black stripe over.
