HATCHLINGS
![]() BAHARI (BERSERKER) OR: THE OUTDOORS CAT A subspecies of the bahari, identified by the prominence of large scales; blue-grey markings around the head, tail, and torso; a sharp, pointed tail; and carapaces around the head down to the neck. This subspecies are are near-silent, but will make low rumbling sounds when disturbed. They are less affectionate than their tracker cousins, but are fiercely loyal. They are very aggressive, and are relentless when hunting, often chasing prey to the point of either its own exhaustion or the death of its chosen prey. Berserkers are proud creatures, and will refuse training from Khilesa it feels is weaker than itself. Should its master die before it, a berserker will stay with its master's nest until it dies, but never serve any one family member. They will, however, protect the nest's young. Berserkers are difficult to kill, as their scales are several times stronger than the eggs they hatched from, and heal very quickly if injured; they are also very heavy, which lends to their ruthless mauling habits. Berserkers are the preferred companions when hunting large prey, and have excellent hearing and sense of smell. While they cannot swim, they can withstand colder temperatures than their tracker cousins, and hardly tire. They eat a lot, however, and so must constantly hunt. ![]() BAHARI (TRACKER) OR: THE INDOORS CAT A subspecies of the bahari, identified by its miniscule scales; light blue/light grey markings around the head, tail, and torso, and colorful banding on its tail, feelers and ears; fins along its neck; a flared barbed tail; two barbed feelers; and fur around the head down to the neck. Like its berserker cousins, they are mostly silent, but will purr when touched by their hatcher/master. They will also make strange sounds when unhappy or disturbed. The trackers are very affectionate, and while loyal, they can be taught to love a master; for this reason, the trackers are considered a house companion, and often left to watch over children. Trackers are extremely fast; able to travel great distances on foot, and can also swim in frigid waters. They also have better scent memory and hearing than their berserker cousins, which makes them good companions for hunting small prey. They tire relatively easily compared to their berserker cousins, and require regular feeding. FOR REFERENCE: Gliese's bahari are Hetr (berserker male) and Bitr (tracker female). In Khilesa, the names mean strong and swift. |
